According to Freddie Mac’s benchmark survey, the rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.85% for the week ending February 20. The 30-year rate has decreased by less than 0.20 percentage points over the past five weeks. Although rates are slowly drifting lower, many homebuyers are opting to stay on the sidelines.
